RETROGRADECENE by Klamath Henry

"While thinking about the current ecological crisis and how it intersects with the matters of Anthropos, I couldn't help but think about the disconnect that many humans have with their environment. Many people separate themselves and their everyday lives from environmental conflict, yet the two are scientifically indistinguishable. A lot of my friends would not consider themselves to be a part of the larger planetary environment, except for in the conversations they have had about the strangeness they feel when different planets go into retrograde. Especially Mercury. That is when they 'feel the effects of their environment' the most.

"Upon recollecting my cosmological conversations with my friends, I began to ponder about what retrograde really meant. Retrograde, by definition, means a lot of different things. One definition describes retrograde as occurring or performed in a direction opposite to the normal or forward direction of conduction or flow. Another describes it to be trending toward or resulting in a worse or previous state. Outside of the usual 'space and planetary concerns' of Mercury, I fo believe retrograde to be an appropriate term to describe the current status of the environmental and anthropological crisis of Earth."
